As a kid, we grow up following our idols in whatever they do and try to mimic them. My idol is a man I once met on the streets of Brazil and I will never forget. His name is Ronaldinho. One of the most incredible football players in the world . At the time I was so starstruck tha I could only manage to get out the question "How can be like you?" and his response was "Prática e trabalho duro" meaning "Practice and Work hard". And I took this to heart.
Just like anything in life, if you don't work to improve your football skills, you will find yourself accomplishing nothing. You have to continuously work to improve your craft. Become stronger, faster, cleaner and mentally unbreakable. I realized this at a young age and thus started a routine to accomplish that. If you're not working, someone else is.
My routine is 5x a week for at least two hours and I have yet to miss a day. I begin with simply passing the ball against a wall quickly. This may seem dumb at fast but great players don't have to think when they are going to pass a ball. They've made it a habit to quickly pass it by hours of muscle memory. I do this for about 20 minutes whichin turn gets my blood going to move on. After I've done this I shoot from different areas about 30 each because you never know when there might be and opening to shoot. Once I've done this I take a new move or something I have yet to turn into a strength and this is my main focus for the training.
When I try to incorporate something new into my tactical abilities it is crucial that I start from the basics to not get myself frustrated with not being able to do it right away. I get every aspect of the move down including the timing and the opportunity's of when to use it and I get it down to instinct. However I won't try the move in live situations until I build up the confidence to do it. This process could be used not only in soccer but in many other aspects of life including school which for some can be very difficult. Does anyone else have a way they can learn something new while stilll building up confidence in your ability to apply it?
